Those of you who know a thing or two about cooking with a Pig Roaster will know how expensive it can be to buy a commercial quality pig roaster. Prices can range from the hundreds right up into the thousands of dollars and for good reason. A quality pig roaster will include components such as stainless steel spits, heavy duty motor, cast iron fittings, grill area and gas fittings. You can even buy some of the high-end portable pig roasters as a complete stand-alone trailer-able unit. A more basic pig roaster will be in the form of a mounted rotisserie spit, that sits over the fire-pit and is driven by a motor capable to turn the weight of a pig.
If you wanted an effective pig roaster without the high costs of some of the commercial pig roasters, you might consider the option of making your own. Here’s a homemade pig roaster that looks as if it will work fantastically well. Sure the guy looks very adept with his hands, but I think anyone who has a little bit of skill and a lot of motivation could make a good go of making a similar pig roaster.
And here you can see the homemade pig roaster in action!
